Good memory of descendants

On Wednesday, April 28, a rally in memory of the first President of the Football Federation of Ukraine Viktor Bannikov and the unveiling of a monument on the grave of prominent domestic sportsman Mykhailo Baka took place at the Baykovo Cemetery in Kyiv. These events were attended by relatives, friends, veterans of sports, former and current heads of state, heads of the national association.

Recognition by FIFA and UEFA

Viktor Maksymovych Bannikov is one of the best goalkeepers in the history of Dynamo Kyiv and the USSR national team, an excellent organizer and football specialist. The FIFA Gold Medal, the UEFA Ruby Order of Merit, which was awarded to the first FFU President during his lifetime, is an eloquent testimony to his significant contribution to the development of his favorite game.

The debut of 20 years

Victor Bannikov's life path was fraught with difficulties and trials. After losing his father in the war, an eight-year-old boy went to work at a shoe factory. In his native Zhytomyr, where the family returned from the evacuation, Victor also continued his studies in the evening school, and spent a few hours of leisure in sports. By coincidence, having stood at goal, already in 20 years spent his first match in the second league, and in two seasons Bannikov made his debut in Dynamo Kyiv!

The first trophy

Despite the presence of several qualified goalkeepers in the team, it was Bannikov who succeeded the legendary Oleg Makarov. In 1963, Victor established himself in the "frame" of the Dynamo goal, and a season later won his first trophy - the USSR Cup.

Ogonek magazine, which traditionally presented the prize to the best goalkeeper of the Soviet Union, gave his sympathies to Viktor the same year. And this despite the fact that among the competitors of the latter was Lev Yashin, who in 1963 received the "Golden Ball" France Football. The next peak, conquered by Bannikov, was the inclusion of his name in the application of the national team for the 1966 World Cup.

A unique achievement
Victor, who took a place on the last frontier alternately with Yevhen Rudakov, is one hundred percent involved in Dynamo's two championship campaigns. It was during this period that Bannikov set a unique achievement, defending "zero" 12 matches in a row - 1122 minutes! This result is the 16th in the world history of national championships. The Dynamo player was often called a flying goalkeeper - he often got balls that opponents had already seen in the net.

The first president of FFU

At 35, a goalkeeper who, with 138 "dry" matches, has become a member of the symbolic club named after Lev Yashin, hung his nails. During the last USSR 1991 championship for Ukraine, Viktor Maksimovich, who had previously worked at the trade union football field, headed the national federation. For a year, the FFU became part of UEFA and FIFA. On April 25, 2001, a thoughtful, responsible, competent, responsive and humane specialist who passed down his skills and experience to young people, took care of veterans, did not become…

The phenomenon of Michael Bucky

Mykhailo Makarovych Baka's whole life is inextricably linked with the development of physical culture and sports. Having passed all the steps of his career, in 1956 he headed the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Sports Committee, and in 1966 - the Ukrainian Council of DST "Dynamo". From 1974 to 1990 he was chairman of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine. How productive and effective Mykhailo Baka's work was can be judged at least from the fact that during this period Ukrainian athletes won more than 200 Olympic awards, 90 of which were gold. At present, modern Ukrainian sport can only dream of such achievements ...
