Anatoly Buznik: "It is important to determine the backbone of the student team as soon as possible"

After participating in the January Oleg Makarov Memorial, the student football team of Ukraine gathered for the second time this year - to perform at the international tournament "Carpathian Space" in Ivano-Frankivsk.

- I do not hide that at the World Universiade, which will be hosted by Italian Naples in 2019, I will bet on players who play in the championship of Ukraine among university teams, - said the head coach of the student team of Ukraine Anatoliy Buznik. - In order not to make a mistake with the choice of candidates, I recently had to visit more than 20 matches in Kyiv, Chernivtsi, Sumy… And it is gratifying that all the performers I wanted to see in the national team arrived in Ivano-Frankivsk in early May .

- However, among them there were several who are already performing at the professional level - for the team of masters…

- And for that, thank you to the leaders of these teams. In addition, the benefits were mutual. After all, some of the players could not play due to the number of warnings, others lacked playing practice, or their club has already completed the tasks for the season ... In general, I was satisfied with my wards.

- Apparently, the status of the Carpathian Space tournament would be higher if the Poles took part in it, as planned…

- The question of why our neighbors did not come is not in my competence, I only know that negotiations were held with them for a long time. But, believe me, the team of Ivano-Frankivsk College of Physical Education, which replaced the Polish national team, was a worthy opponent, especially since it was strengthened by several players of the second league of the local "Prykarpattia".

- You gave an opportunity to show yourself to all 20 performers who were called up to the national team. What tactical scheme did your wards follow, who would you mention and who did not live up to expectations?

- I am a supporter of the 4-3-3 scheme, but when we acted as three central defenders, we took 3-4-3 into arms. Especially since in each match we confidently dictated the conditions, and there was an opportunity to experiment. As for the assessment of the game of individual players, let's do without specifics. After all, at this stage it was important to take first place, as well as to determine the players who will form the backbone of the team in the future. We coped with these tasks.

- Andriy Shtogrin was recognized as the best player of the Carpathian Space tournament. What can you say about him?

- He is a universal football player who can effectively play both on the midfield and on the edge of the attack. Andriy is a pupil of Chornomorets, and if he trains honestly, he will be able not only to become one of the leaders of the student team of Ukraine, but also to establish himself in the Odessa team of masters. However, I can say this about many of my current wards, they are promising, hungry for victory, and now everything depends primarily on themselves.

- In one of the interviews'You mentioned that you want the student team of Ukraine to meet three times a year…

- After the tournament in Ivano-Frankivsk, I had a conversation with the president of the All-Ukrainian Football Association of Students Ivan Krulk, and he confirmed that efforts are being made to have my wards sparring with the national team of one of the neighboring countries at the end of October. As you can see, so far everything is going according to plan.
