Oleg Shaitanov: Representatives of three Ukrainian clubs and Spanish Burela will go to Italy for the match

The newly minted head coach of the Ukrainian women's national football team Oleg Shaitanov spoke about his first steps at the head of the national team.

May 25, by the decision of the AFU Executive Committee, the mentor of the women's national team of futsal was appointed two-time vice-champion of Europe, master of sports of the international class Oleg Shaitanov. The specialist will prepare the team for the matches qualification for Euro-2019, which will take place on September 11-16.

In an interview the official site of the Futsal Association of Ukraine the trainer told about his appointment and plans for the future.

- How did you receive the offer to lead the women's national team, and why did you decide to accept it?

- Serhiy Vladyko, the president of the Futsal Association of Ukraine, personally offered me to accept the team. Naturally, it was a surprise for me. I thought, consulted, including with Taras Shpychka, and made a positive decision. This is a new challenge for me. The national team coach is both an interesting and a difficult job.

- After finishing your player's career, you worked exclusively with men's teams. Did you find time to follow the events in women's futsal?

- Of course, I found: results, tables ... But frankly, I did not follow as meticulously as the men's championships. Now I have a lot of video information about the last matches of the national team, as well as the last important matches of the championship and the Cup of Ukraine.

- Two weeks have passed since your appointment. What have you already managed to do in your new capacity?

- For the last two weeks I have been watching the video at my disposal. Matches of Yulia Forsyuk and her club "Burela" in the Spanish Cup and matches of Kharkiv WFC "Tesla" at the tournament in Portugal have already been added to it.

- It is extremely important for the head coach of the national team to work in close contact with the mentors of the clubs. Have you already managed to communicate with your colleagues from women's teams?

- I have already talked to the coaches of the clubs from which the girls will be called to the next meeting of the team - everyone is open and ready to cooperate. It should not be otherwise, especially since, for example, we have been friends with Vasyl Sukhomlynov and Taras Shpychka for about 20 years. In the future I would like to get acquainted with all the coaches who work in women's futsal.

- The plans of the national team of Ukraine for June were two away matches with Italy on the 20th and 21st - everything remains the same?

- There will be fights in Italy. Plans did not change. Representatives of three Ukrainian clubs and the Spanish "Burela" will go to Italy for a mini-meeting on the eve of the matches and for the matches themselves.

- What are your priorities for two weeks of work?

- The priority is one - to create such an atmosphere in the team that players come to its location with a great desire to play and play on the field one hundred percent.

- In the last matches of the women's national team in Iran, a team took part, in which the champion and winner of the Cup of Ukraine, Kyiv's IMS-NUHT, could be considered the base club. Should we expect any steps from you that would change the situation a bit? Of course, if you need to change something for the better…

- "IMS-NUHT" is a multiple champion of Ukraine. This eloquently testifies to the level of performers who perform in this team. But I would also like to say that the door to the national team is open, and if a player proves himself on the field and corresponds to its level, he will not go unnoticed.

- Just the other day, the Executive Committee of VFAS approved the participation of the women's national team of Ukraine in the student world championship, which will be held in Kazakhstan. Should this tournament be considered as a general check of the team's condition on the eve of the qualifying matches of the European Championship?

- I would not consider the student world championship as preparation for qualifying matches of the European championship. This is an independent tournament, and we know that the leadership of Ukrainian futsal has always taken it very seriously. However, I would very much like the international experience gained in Kazakhstan to be useful in the qualifying matches of the European Championship.

- To what extent can the composition of the student team be similar to the composition of the main women's team?

- Both teams in our situation can not be identical, because the student team has age restrictions. Girls born after January 1, 1993 can take part in the student world championship according to the regulations. In addition, there are certain requirements for current education in educational institutions.
