Shakhtar coach (U-14) Oleksandr Knyazev: “We deservedly become champions of Ukraine”
Shakhtar Academy team (U-22) on June 14 in Happy won the DUFL final tournament and became the national champion, defeating Dynamo Kyiv (1: 0) in a decisive match. After the match, the head coach of the young miners Oleksandr Knyazev shared his impressions of him:
- I think that we became the champions of Ukraine quite deservedly, because during the season we beat Dynamo three times and once drew with it. In addition, our team has not lost a single match in the championship, it has the best performance of the season.
As for the final match against Kyiv, the rivals started it a little better, created a few moments at our goal. But in about 10 minutes our guys coped with the excitement and played their game. After that, we already looked better than the opponent, scored a goal. Then they rearranged and brought the match to victory.
Our team is only 10 months old, because we met only in August. During this time, the guys were able to do a great job and make a huge step in their skills. Now it is difficult to guess which of them will grow up to the first team, but if they continue to make such progress, the chances will definitely be. I wish them to continue to work as selflessly, professionally and disciplined as they did during this championship.
