Igor Gataullin: "FFU cannot exclude Shebek from the list of delegates of UPL matches because he did not pass the certification"

Yesterday, Serhiy Shebek, a former referee known for refereeing the scandalous contract match between FC Karpaty and FC Metalist, published a letter asking to be removed from the FFU delegate lists and no longer considered an official of the federation. This request looks rather strange, given the fact that S. Shebek has not been a FFU delegate since July 17, 2018.

The Head of the Attestation Committee of the FFU Delegates and FFU Security Officers, Igor Gataullin, comments on the situation:

- The commission considered the statement of the ex-arbitrator Sergey Shebek about exclusion from the list of delegates of FFU though to consider, by and large, nothing. The fact is that this person did not pass the certification, which took place on July 17, 2018, and was not appointed a delegate for the 2018/2019 season. Accordingly, Shebek is not a FFU delegate, and it is logical that the federation cannot deprive him of a position he no longer holds. And this is natural, given the numerous violations of Serhiy Shebek, which have repeatedly been the subject of consideration by the Control and Disciplinary Committee and the Committee on Ethics and Fair Play of the FFU.

In particular, the former referee was a participant in the infamous match between FC Olympic and FC Karpaty (2016/2017 season), which was actually disrupted due to the negligence of the match director Serhiy Shebek, who untimely informed the relevant units about the unpreparedness of the Jubilee Stadium. »In the city of Sumy. In addition, former arbitrator Serhiy Shebek, who has had nothing to do with the judiciary for the past eight years, has repeatedly made unfounded and openly insulting accusations against former arbitrators.

In the conviction of the commission I chair and the FFU Arbitration Committee, a person who has systematically committed violations in his work may have nothing in common with the official representation of the FFU.

Today, Ukrainian football is going through a difficult period of self-purification from corruption schemes and contractual matches, which, unfortunately, have become its systemic problem and destroy it from within. The Federation of Football of Ukraine, as well as the Trade Union of Footballers of Ukraine, which for the last four years have been working to prevent and prevent the organization of contract matches, believe that criminal proceedings have already been initiated on the organization of contract matches in Ukraine will help clear our football from this shameful phenomenon and get rid of bad practices which is not a place in Ukrainian football. The police are already suspected of involvement in the organization of dishonest matches of more than 300 people, including representatives of football clubs, agents and arbitrators.

But the FFU is quite calm about artificial scandals, and the situation with Serhiy Shebek is undoubtedly exactly the same, and we will continue to do everything necessary to clean up Ukrainian football. Similar situations only confirm the correctness of the decisions of the FFU bodies on the way to eradicating manipulations, provocations and "contractors" in Ukrainian football.
