Bannikov Memorial: Ukraine's youth team kicks off in a win over Slovakia

Today, on August 15, under the auspices of the FFU, the tournament of memory of the first president of the national football federation Victor Bannikov started.

Teams from Lithuania, Georgia, Slovakia, Turkey, Israel, Belarus and Latvia started competing for the honorary trophy in the international tournament among youth teams under 17 from August 15 to 19, in addition to the hosts.

The Ukrainian national team, led by Volodymyr Yezersky, reached the Group A, where Slovakia, Lithuania and Georgia combined to compete.

The tournament started with a blue and yellow match against Slovaks, who are not the first to become guests of this tournament. Ukrainians have won the Bannikov Memorial five times, but the last time it was in 2012, so the hosts in the first match of the tournament showed their serious attitude to return to Ukraine a memorable cup, which twice in recent years won the Georgian national team.

Therefore, it is not surprising that, despite the significant heat at the beginning of the match, the Ukrainians from the first minutes of the match tried to impose their game on the guests. The hosts started firing long shots at the Slovaks' goal, but in the first half Sudakov and Isadchenko's shots lacked accuracy. Ukrainians also failed to score several dangerous free kicks near the opponent's goal.

In the second half, Volodymyr Yezersky gave the opportunity to take part in the game to other players, but the central midfielder, Shakhtar's representative Georgy Sudakov, who opened the scoring in the match with a long shot into the bottom corner on 61 minutes of the match, showed leadership.

The Slovaks rushed to play, but the Ukrainians steadfastly controlled the game, clearly playing the first number of our team Ruslan Nescheret.

The Ukrainians put an end to the match in the last minute of regular time, when striker Edward Kobak, who represents Dnipro in the national team, managed an accurate shot and appeared on the field in this match in the 54th minute.

On August 16, the Ukrainians will play against the Lithuanian national team in the second match of the memorial. The game will take place at the Bannikov Stadium. Start - at 18.00.
