Nadezhda Kunina: “In Ternopil we expect support in the match with the Hungarians”

Nadezhda Kunina, the debutant of the national women's national team of Ukraine, spoke about her challenge to the country's main team, the Hungarian national team and the support of fans in Ternopil.

— Hopefully, first of all we congratulate you on the challenge to the national team and on the release of your "Zhytlobud-1" to the 1/16 finals of the Women's Champions League. How did you react to the news that you are called up to the national team? Who congratulated you on the challenge? 

- This is really unexpected and at the same time good news. I think it is a dream for every professional football player to play for the national team. This news quickly spread to all relatives and acquaintances. Of course, my parents and relatives were the first to always support me.

- In your new club, Zhytlobudi-1, you became the main striker. Do you think you are ready to fight for the base in the national team? 

- I will do my best to prove myself. Currently, the team has good performers who have to lead it. And I will gain experience with them and at the first opportunity I will try to help the team achieve its goals.

— Ukraine will play their last match in the 2019 World Cup with Hungary. What do you know about this team that you would single out?

- Personally, I have not had to play against Hungary, but I know that the level of football in this country has grown in recent years. Of course, I watched the last two matches of our national team against the Hungarians, and it should be noted that they turned out to be quite difficult (defeat - 0: 4 and minimal victory - 1: 0). Therefore, we can predict that there will be no easy walk here. But we need to prove that the level of skill of our players is higher!

— The national team will play in Ternopil for the first time. Have you ever played in a beautiful stadium? Do you think the fans will fill the stands?

- Ternopil really has a great atmosphere and a beautiful stadium. I have twice had to play in this city in the final matches of the Cup of Ukraine - then still part of the Chernihiv "Legend-SHVSM". It is nice that Ternopil fans are watching women's football and supporting the teams at the stadium, so we expect their passionate support.
