2019 World Cup selection: Ukraine's women's national team confidently defeated the Hungarian team

In the final round of the group stage of the World Cup 2019 Qualifying Tournament Ukraine's national women's team in Ternopil won the Hungarian team.

This match did not solve the tournament standpoint for both teams: Ukraine, having 10 points before the game, reserved a third place, losing even theoretical chances to take one of the first two places in the group. Hungary, having scored four points, guaranteed itself a fourth place in the quartet, above which it would not be able to jump even in the event of victory.

However, the more than six thousand fans who came to Ternopil City Stadium on a warm September evening, the thirst for rehab for the big defeat in Sweden in the previous round and the desire to finish the qualifying tournament on a major note prevented Vladimir Reva's ward from playing their max.

Judging by the beginning of the first half, everything was good with the motivation of the Hungarian team. It was the guests who, after several starting attacks by the Ukrainians, in which Basanska and Ovdiychuk took two corner and inaccurate shots, created the first really dangerous moment in the match, when Samson managed to shoot Rat.

After that, as if by inertia, the guests continued to take the lead, filed a series of angles, several times trying to break through the tight defense of the Ukrainian women, completing their flash of activity with a deliberate blow Demeter.

By the middle of the first half, the game leveled off. And then the advantage of Ukrainian women became more and more noticeable. Our girls dug for a long time in the half of the field, and in the 26th minute they reached their goal. They did it from the standard, and Daria Kravets needed two attempts to break the goalkeeper of the Hungarian team. First, the goalkeeper of the guests saved the partners, reacting to Daria's blow to the head after Basanska's pass from the flag. But the next draw of the corner (again Basanska's serve, again Kravets's header) turned out to be effective.

While the rivals were coming to a close, Ukraine scored again. This time after drawing a free kick, which was successfully completed by Apanaschenko.

Having gained an advantage of two goals, the blue and yellows continued to seek happiness near the gates of rivals, but our girls failed to score again before the break. Although Apanashchenko, Andrukhiv and Kravets had opportunities for this.

In the second half, the pace of play increased slightly, but the number of dangerous moments near the gates of both teams, on the contrary, decreased. Ukraine continued to have a game advantage, but the Hungarians defended themselves carefully, sometimes compensating the numbers for not the best quality of their defense. When the guests had an opportunity to run a counterattack, they tried to use it, but all these efforts were broken by the confident actions of Vladimir Reva's wards.

So it is not surprising that the most interesting events in the second 45 minutes turned around at the time compensated by the referee, when the teams exchanged sharp attacks, but neither Panzulai nor Chanya managed to change the numbers on the scoreboard.
