As you know, a friendly match between the national teams of Italy and Ukraine, which will take place on October 10, will be held in Genoa at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.

This arena, which opened on January 22, 1911, is named after former Genoa captain and World War I hero Luigi Ferraris. However, to consider the current stadium as a direct descendant of the former building would be wrong. The stadium was completely destroyed and then rebuilt before the 1990 World Cup.  

The people of Genoa call the stadium "Marassi". This is the name of the area of ​​the city where the building is located. The arena is home to two Italian Serie A teams at once - Genoa and Sampdoria, and is able to accommodate just over 36 spectators in its stands.

The last time the Italian national team played in Genoa was four years ago. On November 18, 2014, Squadra Azzurri defeated Albania (1: 0). Throughout its history, the Italian national team has played 27 matches in Genoa. The hosts won 16 times, drew eight times and suffered three defeats.
