Volodymyr Yezersky: “The first priority is to make it to the Euro elite round. Our team is hungry for victories ... »

The head coach of the youth U-17 national team of Ukraine Volodymyr Yezerskyi believes that the blue-and-yellow team is able to overcome the qualifying barrier of the European Championship.

Today youth team of Ukraine (players not older than 2002 of birth) at 13.30pm departed for Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the Euro 2019 qualifying round will be held. And the day before, the head coach of the team, Vladimir Yezersky, answered questions from the official website of the FFU.

- Vladimir Ivanovich, did the rehearsal before the Euro succeed?

Sparring with Arsenal-Kyiv U-19 turned out interesting. Our guys acted against the background of fatigue, completing a mini-cycle of a three-day training process. I was satisfied with the attitude of the players to work. They managed to complete almost all the tasks in the match. It is obvious that with each meeting the players better and better understand the requirements of the coaching staff.

- Are all the players in line?

- Practically. We decided not to risk the health of goalkeeper Ruslan Nescheret, who has just recovered from injury. Also, literally last night, Yegor Glushach's temperature rose, so he stayed at home.

- You said that at this age it is not easy to study rivals, given that there is not much information. However, are you not going to Bosnia and Herzegovina blindfolded?

- We have some information about the national team of Iceland, our first rival in the group. And we will get acquainted with the rest of the national teams during the tournament.

- Who, in your opinion, is the most difficult opponent on paper?

- Undoubtedly, this is Iceland. This country is now a real football boom. There is a lot of attention paid to football, improving infrastructure. The results of their national team only confirm this. I also do not rule out that the host of the competition, the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, may be favored by referees, so it will not be easy.

- Will you set the task for your wards to win only the first place?

- If you noticed, in all the tournaments of the current year, in which this national team of Ukraine took part, it achieved success, so we will try not to lag behind in the Euro qualification. Although, of course, the primary task is to make it to the elite round. Our team is hungry for victories, so I believe that everything will be fine.

Recall, on the way to the Continental Championship, the final part of which will be held in Ireland, the Ukrainian team will have to first meet in qualifying confrontations with peers from Iceland (October 10), Gibraltar (October 13) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (October 16).

The elite round of Euro-2019 will include the two best teams of each of the 13 groups, as well as four teams that will take third place and have the best tournament results in meetings with top pairs. The matches of the elite round of the European Championship will take place in March, and the final part of the competition - in May 2019.

PS Due to family circumstances, Volodymyr Yezersky was unable to travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina with the national team. The team will be led by the first assistant head coach Serhiy Nagornyak.
