Ruslan Malinovsky: “We need to continue the series without the defeats that we have”
The midfielder of the Belgian Genk and Ukraine national team spoke to the press ahead of the country's main team matches against Slovakia and Turkey.
Before open team training the players talked to journalists in the mixed zone. Among others, Ruslan Malinovsky shared his thoughts on the eve of the upcoming matches.
- How do you assess this year for the national team?
- He was positive. We need to continue the series without defeats that we have. The team is in a good mood, everyone enjoys the game and is fully trained. This year can be recorded for us as an asset, but it is not over yet. There are two games ahead, through which we will prepare for the next matches. It is very important to show good football and results.
- Did the goals scored for the national team inspire you and add motivation?
- Of course, it adds confidence. I have long wanted to excel in the national team and finally scored the first and second goals. I am very pleased, and now the main thing is not to stop, to progress, to show the highest quality football.
— Do you want to finally score for the national team?
- This is one of the components of the game. If there is a moment, I will take the ball and punch. But first of all I want to try to win these two matches.
- Will you help newcomers to adapt on the field, look for them with passes?
- Football is a team game. When a player is in a good position, you must give him a pass. If you do not do this - there is a minus for you and everyone else. You have to play as productively as possible for the team, not look for friends. But at the same time we must remain on the field as one family.
