FFU has summed up the performance of football players with disabilities for 2018

December 3 is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. On his occasion, the FFU in the House of Football summed up the performances of football players with disabilities over the past year. The event was organized by FFU, the Football Association of the Disabled of Ukraine and the Football Development of Ukraine Charitable Foundation. 

2018 achievements

Thus, on August 1-12, the U-21 European Football Championship among hearing-impaired athletes took place in Stockholm, Sweden, where the Ukrainian youth team took second place. At the same time, the adult team won a ticket to the 2019 European Championships among hearing-impaired athletes. On June 16 in Poltava a qualifying match against the Danish team took place, in which the blue and yellows won 7-0.

Amputee football team of Ukraine in 2018 performed at the World Championships in Mexico. The team was also a participant in the international football tournament among amputees in Poland and the first draw of the Unconquered Cup.

Paralympic team of Ukraine among players with the consequences of cerebral palsy last year became the world champion at the tournament, held in Vienna, and in June 2018 won silver medals at the European Championships in Holland.

On December 2, an open tournament for the Prometheus Transitional Cup, dedicated to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, was held in the City of Sports (Hydropark). This year the teams "Prometheus", "Invasport" and graduates of CYSS "Dynamo" born in 1977/1978 competed for the prize.

In 2018, the national team of Ukraine "DiaEuro" won third place among 17 countries at the international futsal championship for people with diabetes. The competition was held in Slovakia.

Representatives of Ukraine also won the 2018 Seni Cup International Football League in Poland. It is a competition among pupils of psychoneurological institutions and orphanages.

Representatives of the Ukrainian national futsal team among visually impaired athletes were also invited to the podium during the solemn event. All teams were awarded certificates for the football uniform of the national team of Ukraine, which they will receive for the new season in 2019, and new balls for training.

Sharing the principles of UEFA and FIFA

The Football Federation of Ukraine joins the international community celebrating International Day of People with Disabilities. Fully sharing the principles of UEFA and FIFA, the FFU is convinced that football should promote access and respect for all.

“Teams of people with disabilities constantly hold trainings and training camps on the artificial fields of the Bannikov Scientific Research Center. Matches and open trainings of the national team in different cities of Ukraine are regularly attended by fans with disabilities, in particular, at the last home game in Kharkiv in the stands the main team was supported by almost 100 football fans with different nosologies, and we are pleased with this fact.

Working with the Center for Access to Football in Europe (CAFE), we aim to increase the comfort of wheelchair, visually impaired and hearing impaired stadiums, and we are convinced that the positive emotions from big matches directly in the stands will get more and more such people ", - the chairman of Association of football of invalids Vladimir Bandurov emphasized.
