U-19 Championship of Ukraine: Shakhtar and Dynamo scorers represent three different generations

Density in the standings of the Ukrainian Championship U-19 such that even a few victories or defeats in a row could dramatically change the location of teams. This is what happened at the finish of the autumn / winter part of the 2018-2019 season, compared to a preview.

Take at least three leaders. After 12 matches played, Karpaty had 28 points and topped the standings, followed by Dynamo (25) and Shakhtar (24). However, juniors of grand clubs held 10 meetings each.

And what do we have at the intermediate finish? Shakhtar is already in the lead - 33 points (13 games), followed by Dynamo - 31 (12), and Karpaty is third - 29 (14).

The Pitmen crushed the helpless Desna in the postponed match of the 3rd round - 8: 0, in the 13th round they won against Chornomorets (1: 0) at the expense of 16-year-old joker Bohdan Vyunnyk, and in 14 beat Lviv (3: 1). Representatives of three different generations scored two goals each in these three matches: 18-year-old Artem Bondarenko, 17-year-old Bohdan Dukhota and 16-year-old Heorhiy Sudakov. It will be recalled that Andres Carrasco heads the team.

"Dynamo" under the leadership of Igor Kostyuk before the holiday twice defeated rivals in the championship of Ukraine - "Lviv" (4: 0) and "Desna" (6: 1). Kyiv's top scorer in these matches was 16-year-old Vladyslav Vanat - three goals. 18-year-old Artur Vashchyshyn and 17-year-old Artem Shulyansky scored two goals each.

At the same time, Dynamo, unlike Shakhtar, had reasons to rejoice in the international arena as well. In the UEFA Youth League, Kyiv overcame two barriers: in October, they twice defeated the Bulgarian "September" (1:0, 5:1), and in November overcame the Belgian "Anderlecht" (1:1, 2:1). With the Bulgarians, 17-year-old Vikentiy Voloshin became the hero - three goals, and the games with the Belgian grandee were won by older football players - Serhiy Buletsa, Vadym Mashchenko, Georgy Tsitaishvili.

The closest landmark for Dynamo U-19 is Italian Juventus. The match will take place in Kiev on February 20. The winner will continue to fight in the UEFA Youth League.

But for Shakhtar, the U-19 tournament ended at the group stage. The Pitmen lost three of six matches and drew three with a goal difference of 5-11. However, at the finish the team looked more serious and gave two draws with a score of 1: 1 (November 27 with Hoffenheim and December 12 from "Lyon"), but still ranked last out of four.

Returning to the championship of Ukraine, it is worth noting the first victory of the season "Olympic". It happened in a meeting with the debutant from Chernihiv, and the Olympians immediately managed to defeat - 6: 0. This historic event for the team took place on November 23 in Bila Tserkva.

Three matches remained unplayed: Volyn - Dynamo (3rd round), Shakhtar - Arsenal, Dynamo - Zorya (8th round). The resumption of the Ukrainian U-19 Championship is scheduled for March 8, 2019 (base date of the 15th round).
