All-Ukrainian open championship of ATO Heroes: tournament started in five cities

On April 12, the traditional Open Championship of Ukraine of ATO Heroes took place in five cities.

At the stadiums of Lutezh (Kyiv region), as well as Dnipro, Lviv, Vinnytsia and Mykolayiv on Friday, the grand opening of the Ukrainian ATO Heroes Championship, as well as the games of the first round of the competition took place. We will remind, this year got off to a start 34 teams.

The matches of this year's championship will be held in three stages. At the first stage, the participants, divided into six divisions according to the geographical principle ("South", "North", "West", "East", "Center" and "Kyiv"), will fight in two rounds from April to September. The two best teams of each division will advance to the previous final round. At this stage, participants will be divided into four groups, three teams in each, and will compete for access to the next stage during September. Four teams will advance to the decisive round of the competition. The semifinal matches will take place on the 13th, and the final match - on October 14, on the Day of the Defender of Ukraine.

A gala match between the ATO Heroes 'Team and the Veterans' Team of Ukraine took place in Lutezh as part of the opening of competitions in the Kyiv and Pivnich groups. It was preceded by the presentation of balls by the Football Federation of Ukraine for all participating teams, which was held by the first vice-president of the FFU Oleg Protasov.

"We have already missed real football," said Oleg Protasov. "We have recently seen Chelsea and Manchester City on TV, but the real struggle is right here on our fields." The federation will do everything necessary for the matches of the tournament to take place at a high level, for the teams to be comfortable and for you guys to enjoy the game. Football has everything - defense, attack, tactics, it is a sport that best suits the fighters. I wish you all the best in the tournament, and let the strongest win! ”

A fighting and surprisingly principled match between football veterans and anti-terrorist operation participants ended with a score of 3: 1 (Oleksiy Belik, Serhiy Nagornyak and Oleh Sobutskyi were among the winners). However, this did not upset the defenders of Ukraine, who after the game were happy to communicate and take pictures with their idols. As the founder of the national team of veterans Oleh Sobutsky noted, this year's tour of the team will be held under the slogan of supporting the military in the anti-terrorist operation zone. The team of national legends intends to meet with the teams participating in the ATO Heroes Championship in different parts of Ukraine, and in the near future it is scheduled to visit the ATO zone.

We would like to add that the Football Federation of Ukraine and its President Andriy Pavelko have been supporting all competitions held among teams formed of Ukrainian defenders since 2014, as the main goal of the FFU is, among other things, comprehensive assistance to combatants.
