Vadim Kostyuchenko: “Traditional tournament Football Federation of Ukraine honors Chernobyl heroes”

On the Day of the Chernobyl tragedy, a traditional tournament among young football players of the capital was held in Kyiv with the assistance of the Football Federation of Ukraine.

The tragic date - the 33rd anniversary of the Chernobyl accident, which became the biggest man-made disaster of the twentieth century - was celebrated in Kyiv by the traditional, already 27th, Chornobyl Bells football tournament, this time among children born in 2009.

In Troyeschina, one of the most populated areas of the capital, participants of the annual competitions not only determined the best on the football field, but also honored the memory of heroes who saved our country and the world from the fatal consequences of the catastrophe at the cost of their lives and health. The initiator of this tournament was one of the liquidators of the accident, the honorary president of FC "Troieschyna" Mykola Semin.

This year, four metropolitan teams (FC Desna, CYSS-60, FC Parma, FC Troyeshchyna) took part in the tournament, which took place on an artificial turf (40x14), uniting more than 60 young players. The participants of the tournament and its winners were greeted by honored guests - the first vice-president of FFU Vadym Kostyuchenko and deputies of Kyiv City Council Yuriy Zubko and Vadym Onufriychuk. The Football Federation of Ukraine has traditionally passed soccer balls to young athletes.
