Beach Soccer Team of Ukraine reaches the quarterfinals of the World Beach Games selection

In the 1/8 finals of the World Beach Games Qualifying Tournament, Yevgeny Varenytsa's team defeated the Azerbaijanis and reached the quarterfinals.

Today, the Ukrainian beach soccer team managed to overcome the first stage of selection for the World Beach Games in San Diego. In the 1/8 finals in the Spanish town of Salou, the blue and yellows snatched the victory from the team of Azerbaijan with a score of 6: 4.

After a tense first period, in which neither team was able to open the score, the Ukrainians successfully started the second 12 minutes. Yuriy Shcherytsia and Dmytro Voitenko scored in one minute. By the end of the period, the opponents exchanged goals twice (Voitenko scored a hat-trick) and went to the break with a score of 4: 2. 

But the beginning of the last 12 minutes was a failure. Azerbaijanis were able not only to reduce the gap, but also to restore balance - 4: 4. However, to the credit of the Ukrainians, they did not give up and seized the initiative again. And the blows of Konstantin Makeyev and Roman Pachev brought our team the desired victory - 6: 4. 

With this score, the fight ended. The national team of Ukraine reached the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals on May 1, Ukraine will meet the Russian team, which defeated the Norwegian team - 4: 10. It will be recalled that the semi-finalists and the fifth team of the qualifying tournament, which will be determined in the playoffs of the losers of the 7/0 finals, will receive a direct pass to the finals of the World Beach Games.
