U-21 Championship: Another Dynamo Gold, Miners Failure and Alexandria Progress
Dynamo Kyiv won the Ukrainian youth championship ahead of schedule - the eighth in the history of the tournament, which started in 2004 under the name "backup tournament".
Dynamo won the first four draws (2005-2008), then there was a long break, after which the gold returned to the capital (2016, 2017, 2019). Shakhtar has won the title only once in the last four seasons, but this time it failed.
The miners under the leadership of Valery Kryventsov did not look very confident at the first stage of the championship and won only half of the matches. In the second stage, the picture was the same, and the percentage of points scored even decreased. If Shakhtar had any other real competitors, we could see an interesting fight for bronze medals. But Arsenal-Kyiv, which shot very unexpectedly in the first stage and took the fourth place, simply dissolved in the second stage: nine defeats and one draw ...
But "Alexandria" led by Andrei Kuptsov proved that the third place last season was not a coincidence. According to the results of a separate second stage of the championship, the Alexandrians were even ahead of Dynamo at a certain stage, but they failed to finish - one point in three rounds. Representatives of the district center lost at the very finish to Dynamo at home - 0: 1. Although the fate of the championship was decided earlier.
Moreover, Yuri Moroz actively involved not only football players born in 21-1997 in the matches of the U-2000 team. Both 18-year-old and even 17-year-old players played and scored for Dynamo. Thus, four goals were scored by Yaroslav Nadolsky (born in 2001), two by Vladyslav Vanat (2002), and one each by Christian Bilovar and Artem Shulyansky (both in 2001). Danilo Hondak, Mykola Yarosh, Roman Bodnya (all - 2001), Konstantin Vivcharenko, Daniil Skorko (both - 2002) spent a decent amount of playing time on the field.
She managed to gather during the Desna season, for which it was a difficult debut season in the Ukrainian youth championship. But "Olympic" had to be disqualified - for systematic participation in matches with a fixed result. In 2019, the "Olympians" have not played in the U-21 and U-19 championships, will not play next season due to disqualification.
