As of April 2019, the Serbs ranked 29th in the official FIFA rankings. The team is the legal successor of the national teams of Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro. As the Serbian national team, it played its first match in history in 2006. The team has the nickname "White Eagles".
The greatest achievements of the Serbs fell on the Yugoslav period of their history. The Yugoslav national team twice became the vice-champion of Europe (1960, 1968). 45-year-old Serbian specialist Mladen Krstajic has been coaching the national team since October 2017. He replaced Slavolyub Muslin. Prior to that, Krstajic was a member of the coaching staff of his predecessor. Under the guidance of this coach, the Serbian national team played 17 matches. In them, the "representation" won seven victories, drew five times and lost five times.
Together with Krstaich, the White Eagles performed in the finals of the 2018 World Cup, where they took third place in Group E, conceding to the 1/8 finals of the teams of Brazil and Switzerland.
