Roman Yaremchuk: "It is very nice to score goals in my native Lviv"

The striker of the national team of Ukraine Roman Yaremchuk told about his emotions after the victory of the blue and yellow (1:0) over the Luxembourg team in the Euro 2020 qualifying match in Lviv.

- Of course, I really like to score, and it's even more pleasant to do it in my native Lviv, - said the blue-yellow forward after the final whistle in the match with Luxembourg. - I am very happy with the victory, although unlike the previous confrontation with the Serbs, the game in our performance left much to be desired.

- You were assisted by Ruslan Malinovsky, who also performs in Belgium.

- I remember he scored from my transfer to the Czechs in the League of Nations match. If we continue to complement each other in this way, I will be happy.

- What was Ukraine's plan for the game?

- We were counting on a quick goal. They knew that the Luxembourg national team rarely plays with such a large audience, which zealously supports its own. Raising the pace, it was necessary to try to take advantage of this factor in the debut. And so it happened. The only bad thing is that when we opened the account, we didn't realize two more scoring moments. By the middle of the first half, the question of the winner could be removed, and there would be no nervousness.

- The guests quickly came to their senses and sometimes even dictated their terms to Ukrainians.

- I agree, the Luxembourg national team quickly managed to push the game away from their goal, and it was remembered for good ball control, the ability to change the direction of attacks. So the fight turned out to be difficult and kept the tension until the final whistle. The more pleasant it was to win.

- When you opened the scoring in the match with Serbia, the goals scored in the national team of Ukraine, your father, who was present at the match, could not contain his emotions and cried. Do you think your father was more restrained after your next goal?

- I think so, because you get used to everything quickly. But I really like to give pleasure to my father, who used to be a good football player.

- To whom do you dedicate the goals scored?

- To the parents, who, by the way, were present at both matches, with Serbia and Luxembourg, as well as to his wife. They are my most loyal fans.

- Why was Ukraine completely unable to show its football in the match with Luxembourg?

- I do not hide that in this match we did not show everything we are capable of. It so happened that twice in the paired matches we spent the second with the national team of Luxembourg. Most likely, the matches with the Portuguese and the Serbs took a lot of energy, and we lacked freshness in the away match against Luxembourg, and now. That's why there were difficulties. And yet this time the result was in the foreground, so let's just enjoy the victory.
