Oleksandr Karavayev: “The speakers were few, but the main thing is that we lead the group”

Defender of the national team of Ukraine Oleksandr Karavayev commented on the Lviv victory of the blue and yellows in the qualification for Euro 2020 over Luxembourg with a score 1: 0:

- The match with Luxembourg differed from the previous confrontation with Serbia. If the Balkans allowed us to play, the match took place on opposing courses, the Luxembourg team focused entirely on defense, and it was not easy to break such a rich defense. Especially since, having opened an account in the debut, in the future we did not succeed with the implementation.

Now the level of the European national teams has noticeably leveled, in addition, it is extremely difficult to hold two paired matches in one breath. Here it was important to show tactical flexibility and achieve maximum results. We succeeded, although, I agree, there was no special dynamics in our actions, which made it easier for the guests to keep the intrigue in the fight until the final whistle.

It is important that everything that Andrei said was fulfilled. He was able to reach us again, we knew perfectly well what was required of us. Yes, not everything worked out, but the main thing is that we have established ourselves in the first place in the group, keeping our gates intact. For me as a defender, this is very important.
