Yevgeny Varenytsa: “Our task at least at the European Games is to get to the three winners”

On Saturday evening, the Ukrainian beach soccer team will head to the capital of Belarus - Minsk, where the II European Games will take place. There is a group tournament waiting for our team. In Group B, the rivals of the Ukrainians will be the national teams of Italy, Spain and Russia.

The mentor of the Ukrainian team Yevhen Varenytsa spoke about the goal of the national team at the prestigious tournament.

"I am satisfied with the course of training in Kyiv. The physical and psychological condition of the boys does not cause any complaints. I invited for a meeting at the Hydropark 12 performers. The main thing is that we finally managed to gather all the strongest, including the Borsuk brothers and Oleksandr Korniychuk. We worked in the mode of two training sessions and played two friendly matches - with Kyiv's Griffin (7: 2) and Alternative (6: 3). 

In the group tournament of the II European Games we will face very strong opponents. The Italian national team is last year's Euroleague winner and the sixth team in the world rankings. The Spaniards played in the final of the same tournament and have the seventh ranking on the planet. Russia is third. These are serious teams with well-trained players. 

Despite this, we are not going to give up, because we also have very qualified performers. I set a minimum task - to get to the top three winners of the tournament, "said Yevhen Varenytsia.
