U-19: Spain's eighth national team has become European champion

Today, in the final match of the European Championship among the U-19 teams Spain lost to Portugal and became the champion of the continent for the eighth time.

Last year's European champion, the Portuguese U-19 team, defended its title in the capital of Armenia in the fight against the most titled team in the Old World - Spain. The Spaniards have won the continental championship seven times. The last time this happened was in 2015 in Greece. 

In the semifinals of the 2019 European Championships, the Portuguese beat the Irish (1: 0), and the Spaniards - the French (0: 0, on penalties - 4: 3). The hero of the final match was the Spanish midfielder Ferran Torres. He made a double at the Republican Stadium in Yerevan, scoring once in each half. In the end - 2: 0 in favor of the Spaniards.

We will remind, the national team of Ukraine U-19 on Euro-2019 stopped at the stage of elite round of selection. In Group 7, the Ukrainians conquered Belgium (5: 2), played with Serbia (2: 2) and conceded to Italy (1: 3). And it was the Italians who missed out on the final of Euro-2019 with Sergiy Nagornyak's wards, who finished second in the group.
