Euro-2021: Ukraine women's national team lost to one of the strongest teams in the world

In its opening match of the qualifying round of Euro-2021, the women's national team of Ukraine lost in Lviv to the eight-time champion of the Old World - the national team of Germany.

Natalia Zinchenko's wards started the qualifying tournament for the European Championship in 2021 with a match against the most titled team on the continent, Germany, which took place at the Lviv Arena.

No one doubted that the coaching staff of our team would build a game of defense. And so it happened - the Germans from the first minutes began the siege of the gate of Catherine Samson, and the Ukrainians waited for the possibility of a counterattack. Already in the debut, the guests created two dangerous moments, and then came forward, albeit in a rather controversial situation. Sara Debritz responded to the pass from the left flank, hitting the bottom corner into the corner of the goal. The ball flew into the net, but our goalkeeper was hindered by one of the German players, who was offside. Lineswoman raised the flag, but the main referee still scored.

However, within five minutes the Ukrainians had a hundred percent opportunity to level the score. Ovdiychuk brought Andrukhov face-to-face with the German national goalkeeper, but unfortunately Victoria lost the match. And yet this crash for some time reduced the tension at our gates, as the opponent began to act more cautiously.

In the second half of the first half, the wards of Martina Foss-Tecklenburg picked up the pace again, and the goals did not take long. In the 29th minute, Lina Magull made a great free kick from 16 meters. 0: 2. And two minutes later the ball hit Daria Kravets just in the ribs after a powerful shot from outside the penalty area. The Swedish referee interpreted the episode as a handball, punished Kravets with a yellow card and appointed an 11-meter penalty. With the blow of Alexandra Popp Samson coped, but against finishing Felicitas Rauch was powerless. 0: 3.

In the second half, the nature of the game did not change. In the 54th minute, the guests scored again for our team. Lena Oberdorf locked the corner kick on the far post. 0: 4. In a minute Natalia Zinchenko's wards had a chance to reduce the gap. Basanska and Andrukhiv fired two shots in a row from close range, but both were blocked by German defenders.

After 80 minutes of play, the ball went to the center of the penalty area, and Sarah Debritz scored with a double shot. Another goal in the 85th minute after a solo pass was recorded by Svya Hut. Then Debritz scored again, thereby doing a hat trick. And the match point was set in the second compensated minute by Leonie Meyer, a classy shot that overturned Catherine Samson.
