Yevhen Varenytsia: "After the game we were obliged to go from the first place to the semifinals of the World Beach Games"

The head coach of the national beach soccer team Yevhen Varenytsa summed up the team performance at the World Beach Games.

On October 11-16, the Ukrainian beach soccer team took part in the World Beach Games in Qatar. Unfortunately, the blue and yellows lost in all three matches of the group round: in the first match Ukraine lost to Iran (4:5), in the other - Senegal (4:5) and in the third - Paraguay (5:7). Thus, our team finished fourth in Group C and failed to make it to the semifinals of the competition. 

The results of the performance of the Ukrainians at the World Beach Games were summed up by the head coach of our team Yevhen Varenytsa:

"Unfortunately, the team failed this tournament. Insufficient preparation was noticed on the eve of the Games, when we were never able to hold at least one meeting. You can't win such representative tournaments from scratch. In the first two halves we beat each of our, I emphasize, very strong opponents, but the third 12-minute failed each time, there was simply not enough strength, we played like on our knees. 

And we were obliged to go from the first place to the semifinals and the game, and its understanding. However, the lack of physical fitness was compounded by the terrible heat, and we spent the last halves in all three matches very poorly. Although I have no complaints about the guys. They fought as best they could, giving all their strength on the field.

Our rivals did not surprise us with anything. The reason for the defeats, I'm sure, is our readiness. If the boys had enough strength to play like in the first two halves, we would definitely reach the semifinals. Both Iran and Paraguay are some of the best teams in the world, but we did not concede to them, we even beat them. 

The first match, with Iran, was also just awful in terms of refereeing. I don't usually discuss referees, but it's been too much. The judge whistled only in one direction, carefully recorded all our violations, and did not pay attention to similar ones in the opponent. The Madagascar gave us a non-existent penalty and just broke the whole game.  

Well, this year the season for the national team of Ukraine is over. Some of the players who can claim a place in the ranks of our team will still take part in club competitions. Thus, Dnipro's "Choice" is currently participating in the 2019 World Champions Cup in Turkey. There are several promising young performers. Given that Ukraine will not go to the World Cup in Paraguay, which will be held in late November, we will have tournaments in 2020. "
