Sergiy Nagornyak: “Second match with Georgians was the best this year for national team”

Head coach of the U-16 U-XNUMX national team Serhiy Nagornyak was pleased with the work done at the meeting which ended in Tbilisi.

After the return of the youth team of Ukraine (players not older than 2004) from Georgia, where the blue-yellows held two control matches with local peers (2: 1, 3: 0), the head coach of the team Serhiy Nagornyak summed up the results of the gathering.

- Everything went well, - Sergey Nikolaevich told. - The national team won both matches, showing, I think, good football. But for me the main thing was to look at the business of new guys, to see the interaction between partners. Especially since we played against a team that operates in three defenders. We have not had such rivals yet.

The first game was difficult because it was hot, about 27 degrees, and our guys did not immediately adapt. AND the second fight passed completely under our control. A 3-0 score does not reflect what was happening on the field. I would say more that it was probably the best match for this national team this year.

- Did the Georgian national team turn out to be a worthy opponent?

- Absolutely. The Georgians hold the ball well. However, it was my wards that allowed the opponents to do only to their penalty area, then everything was under our control. The main tension arose after the standard provisions. We did not allow the Georgians to create anything from the game.

- In each of the matches, the national team of Ukraine scored under the curtain of the game. Did the team look good physically?

- So. Now the season is in full swing, so there could be no claims in this regard. I repeat, in the first match the guys were not fresh, but, in addition to two goals scored, they could score four more times.

- Is the competition in the national team growing?

"Of course." Thanks to the UAF, we effectively hold meetings, the selection continues, so I do not rule out the appearance of new players. A place in the national team is not guaranteed to anyone.
