Ukrainian Cup 50+. "Silmash" from Kolomyya wins the main trophy

The decisive stage of the Cup of Ukraine among veterans 26+, dedicated to the memory of the outstanding football player of Dynamo and the USSR national team Leonid Ostrovsky, took place on October 27-50 in Kolomyia (Ivano-Frankivsk region) at the Yunost Stadium.

In the fight for the championship in this age category, four teams reached the finish line: "Niva" (Kyiv region), "Silmash" (Kolomyia), "Aborigine" (Lutsk) and the national team of Zhytomyr region. According to the regulations of the Cup of Ukraine among 50+ veterans, one team had to have no more than six players born in 1964-1969, the other players born in 1963 and older. The tournament was traditionally organized by the Association of Football Veterans of Ukraine and Agribusiness LLC.

Unfortunately, Zhytomyr football veterans could not come to Kolomyia due to transport problems. Thus, "Aboriginal" was credited with a technical victory in the semifinals.

In each of the matches, the winner was determined in a series of post-match penalties. Here an important role was played by the skill of goalkeepers and cold-blooded players who perform 11-meter. The hosts from "Silmash" coped with it best.

To the applause of local fans, who, by the way, gathered in the stands of "Youth", the team captain received an honorary trophy from the executive director of AVFU Vitaly Kulibabenko, and the leader of the team, famous footballer Petro Rusak, was named the best player of the tournament.

The participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the famous player and coach Mykhailo Turyansky, who recently went to a better world, and took a joint photo in memory of the football battles in Ivano-Frankivsk region.

"The atmosphere is very friendly and warm. Football has united people, these days in Kolomyia have become a real outlet, - Vitaliy Kulibabenko summed up the results of the competition. - Thanks to the support of AVFU President Oleh Sobutsky, who took over all organizational issues and united a team of like-minded people, the teams were able to focus exclusively on football. Many thanks to him from all participants! You can see for yourself, teams gathered, approximately equal in class, the winners had to be determined in a series of penalties. I was pleased with the large number of fans in the stands, probably it was their support that inspired Silmash players at a crucial moment. "

The Cup of Ukraine 50+ in memory of Leonid Ostrovsky became the penultimate in the list of competitions of 2019 held by the Association of Football Veterans of Ukraine. The final tournament - the Cup of Ukraine 2+ in memory of Yuri Voinov will take place on November 3-40 in Vyshneve (Kyiv region).
