Ukrainian Cup. Popov's goal champion brings Dynamo victory over Shakhtar

In the 1/8 finals of the Cup of Ukraine, Kyiv's Dynamo defeated Shakhtar Donetsk in principle, scoring the decisive goal in extra time.

This season, before the cup confrontation, the rivals managed to exchange victories: Kyiv was stronger in the Super Cup, and Donetsk - in the first round of the national championship. In the previous 15 matches in the Ukrainian Cup, Shakhtar has won 10 victories, including in all matches before the final. All five Dynamo victories came in the decisive matches. Last season, the rivals met in the quarterfinals, and then in a penalty shootout the miners won again.

The beginning of the match, like most of the first half, was dominated by the hosts. Dynamo from the start began to actively hit the goal, in particular, Pyatov had to rescue his team after the blows of Verbych, Karavaev and Besedin. Donetsk responded with a dangerous attack, but Kendzora managed to knock the ball out from under Tyson's feet.

In the 22nd minute, Dynamo opened the scoring - Mykolenko passed to Sydorchuk from the left flank, and he forced Pyatov to follow the ball, which flew into the far corner, with a twisted shot from 30 meters. After that, the Pitmen finally began to respond sharply, but Ismaili's shot was blocked, and Tyson scored above the goal. 

In the break, Luis Castro replaced Krivtsov due to injury. Later, for the same reason, he had to remove Hemp and Marlos from the game.

In the second half, Konoplyanka and Tyson scored good but inaccurate shots for Shakhtar, and Besedin scored for Dynamo.

The extremity has traditionally become hot for confrontations between Ukrainian grandees. First, the referee showed a straight red card to Shepelev for a foul against Tyson in the center of the field. And in the compensated time after the corner, Shakhtar equalized the score - Stepanenko managed to beat Bushchan with a spectacular shot.

In overtime, Taras received a second warning, and the teams equalized. In general, an additional 30 minutes passed for the advantages of Dynamo. And if Pyatov coped with the blows of Garmash and Verbych, then Popov scored the ball with his head after a corner from De Pen. This is the debut goal for the U-20 world champion based on the white and blues. And it was he who ultimately decided the fate of the confrontation - followed by the people of Kiev.
