Roman Yaremchuk: “I want the group that we will go to for Euro”

Forward of the national team of Ukraine Roman Yaremchuk summed up the results of the match with the Serbs in Belgrade - 2:2 and praised the performance of the blue and yellows in the qualifying tournament for Euro 2020 in general.

- Roman, the national team finished its performance in the qualifying round of the Euro on a major note, saving a draw in the last minutes of the match against Serbia. Are you satisfied?

- Yes, we finished the year without a single defeat, took first place in the group. This is the most important thing.

- Did the Serbian national team surprise you with something?

- No, we have not seen anything so special from the Balkans, although they include players who have high individual skills, - Tadic, Mitrovic…

- You killed Serbs both in Lviv and in Belgrade. Is this a convenient opponent for you?

- My task is to score for anyone, so I wouldn't say that someone is comfortable. So it turned out, he scored a goal. So happy.

- In Belgrade, you played mostly on the left flank, but still managed to score and hand out. What are your impressions of the change of position?

- I had to perform the tasks of a coach, although, of course, this is not my home position. But no problem, that was the wish of the mentor. Many can play on the left.

- What did the blue and yellows fail in Belgrade?

- It was difficult to play in such an atmosphere, with almost empty stands, so there were also some difficulties with the setup. But a draw is a natural result, and we are still finishing this year in a good mood.  

- Was it important for Ukraine to get to the first seed basket before the next draw of the final part of the Euro?

—Yes, we wanted that to happen. It is good that in the end we will be in the first basket.

- Does the unbeaten series of the national team add to the mood?

- Of course. 11 games without defeats is a solid achievement. This has never happened in the history of the Ukrainian national team.

- On November 30, Ukrainians will meet rivals in the final part of the Euro. Are there any teams you would like to meet?

- I would say, but I will not (laughs). I would like us to get a group that we will pass.
