Europa League. Alexandria lost chances to leave the group after losing to Wolfsburg

Having won three draws in four matches, the bronze medalists of the previous championship of Ukraine no longer had the right to make a mistake. The situation was complicated by the fact that Protasov and Sitalo could not help in the match with the representative of the Bundesliga "Alexandria".

The hosts managed to cope with the starting pressure of rivals, although in the 13th minute Weghorst forced Pankiv to save the team, and in the second wave of the attack "Alexandria" forgave Mehmedi. The Ukrainians responded with a dangerous blow from Shastal from a few meters, but Castells saved. The next moment arose at "Wolfsburg" - Tisseran after a corner header over the crossbar.

And when it seemed that the wards of Sharan stood in the first half, the Germans still opened the score. After the standard, Dubra blocked Weghorst in his own penalty area, and the victim himself converted a penalty.

The second half in many ways resembled the first - again, "Wolfsburg" had more possession of the ball, more often attacked and scored. So Pankiv had to demonstrate his skills after the shots of Roussillon (twice) and William. Grechishkin's powerful blow was the hosts' response, but Castells managed. Unfortunately, this was the only hit in the plane in the performance of "Alexandria" in the second half. As a result, the Ukrainians lost to Wolfsburg for the second time in the group stage and lost their chances to reach the playoffs.
