UEFA Cup 2020/2021: December 3, Ukraine meets its rivals in tournament qualification

The draw for the preliminary and group qualifying rounds of the 3th UEFA Regions Cup will take place on December 12 in Nyon, Switzerland. 

Representatives of 36 European associations, including Ukraine, will take part in the ceremony. The draw will start at 15.00 Kyiv time. Our country will be represented in these competitions by the winner of the UAF Regions Cup 2020.

Preliminary round

Eight amateur teams from the lowest ranked associations will take part in the preliminary round according to their performances in the UEFA Regions Cup. These are Malta, Northern Macedonia, Sweden, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Estonia and Georgia. They will be divided into two groups of four teams. The competition must end by August 2, 2020. The two best teams from each group will advance to the group qualifying round. 

Group Round

The four winners of the previous round will join the 28 teams that will start the tournament from the group stage and will include a representative of Ukraine. According to the rating, participants will be divided into four baskets for the draw. Ukraine will get to basket B. The best teams of the previous qualifying round will be included in basket D. 32 teams will be divided into eight groups of four each.  

Warehouse composition

Cart A: Turkey, Croatia, Ireland, Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Spain, Russia *.

Cart B: France, Portugal, Ukraine*, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Northern Ireland.

Cart C: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Switzerland, Serbia, England, Lithuania, Israel, Romania, Wales.

Cart D: Finland, San Marino, Slovenia, Moldova, four winners of the previous round.

*Based on previous decisions of the UEFA Executive Committee and the UEFA Emergency Committee, representatives of Russia and Ukraine cannot be grouped together. 

Then, in the process of drawing lots, the hosts of mini-tournaments will be determined, which should take place by December 13, 2020. Eight winners of the four group qualifying rounds will advance to the final tournament, which will take place in the last two weeks of June 2021 in Poland.    

Recall that in the UEFA Cup Cup amateur teams (one of each European association). The representative of Ukraine will decide after holding the UAF Cup of Regions. In the past tournament draw the Ukrainian Association represented the national team of Lviv region.
