2019: results of the year for the national beach soccer team

In 2019, the Ukrainian beach soccer team made its way to the Euroleague Super Final and reached the ΙΙ European Games.

The greatest success of the national team of Ukraine this season is the fourth place at the ΙΙ European Games in Minsk. In addition, the blue-and-yellows successfully performed at the qualifying rounds of the World Beach Games in Salou, Spain, and the 2019 Euroleague in Nazare, Portugal.

Yevhen Varenytsa's wards started this season unusually late, only in April. During a week-long training camp in Baku, the Ukrainians played two friendly matches with Azerbaijan. Three were planned, but the third team refused by mutual agreement. It was at this time that it was revealed that they would be performing in one selection group for the World Beach Games.

In the qualifying stage of the World Beach Games in Spain, blue and yellow took fifth place. They conquered Azerbaijan and Portugal, but conceded to Russia and had to contend with Belarus for the fifth position, which gave the right to play a match with one of the teams of South America. This confrontation was successful for our players, and in the future, due to the transfer of the Games from the United States to Qatar, the conquered place was generally passable.

The next big tournament for our beach soccer team was the вропей European Games in Minsk. The Ukrainians defeated Italy and Spain, but were again defeated in the confrontation with Russia. However, this did not prevent Yevhen Varenytsia's wards from reaching the semifinals, where Portugal crossed their path. In the fight for third place, Ukraine lost to the Swiss and stopped a step away from the bronze medals. 

In September, our national team performed in the 2019 Euroleague Super Final in the Portuguese town of Figueira da Foz. Having some problems with the composition, she once again lost to Italy, Portugal and Turkey on penalties. After finishing last in the group, the blue and yellow were forced to fight Switzerland for 7th place. This match was the only win for our guys in the tournament.       

And finally, the first ever World Beach Games in Qatar were the final tournament for Ukraine this season. On them our team did not perform well, having suffered three defeats. However, it should be noted that in the matches against Iran, Paraguay and Senegal the Ukrainians fought decently, conceding one or two goals. 

So, on the one hand, the national team of Ukraine has not won a single tournament this season, on the other - in the fight against the most violent teams in the world of beach soccer has shown itself quite well.

In total, the Ukrainian beach soccer team played 2019 matches in 24, 21 of which were official. The result - 12 wins, 11 losses, 1 draw. Oleg Zborovsky, who scored 13 times, became the best scorer in the official matches of the season.
