Europa League. Alexandria completes performance in Gent group defeat by Gent

In their last European Cup match this season, Vladimir Sharan's team showed a good game, but gave way.

In Belgium, Alexandrians vie for the club's prestige and UEFA draft as they lost the chance to continue fighting in last round. The opponent had about the same motivation, as Ghent secured a place in the playoffs in advance. Injuries to Buhal, Banada, Shastal, Protasov and Sital, which significantly weakened the team's personnel potential, made it difficult for the guests.

The fight took place in adverse weather conditions, accompanied by rain. The Yellow and Blacks tried to act in an open manner, regularly using flank attacks and long passes. In general, the game of "Alexandria" looked quite attractive, but a lot of free zones, which were left behind after losing the ball, gave the opponent the opportunity to counterattack. There were a lot of individual mistakes in the defense of the guests. As a result, Depoitre made a double at the goal of Pankiv in the 16th minute, and in both cases he was assisted by Bezus. Yaremchuk and Bezus also dangerously scored before the break, but the goalkeeper neutralized the attempts of his compatriots. The simple combinations of the Alexandrians, which they built in the opponent's half of the field and even in his penalty area, did not lead to an accentuated blow to the plane in the first half.

Performance in the final stages improved after the break. At first, Kovalets was close to success, and then Miroshnichenko scored from the distance, soaking the score. In the next attack, Bezborodko also scored, but from offside. After that, the guests gained a significant territorial advantage, but, having created enough opportunities to score the second goal, did not realize any of them.   

As part of "Alexandria" the whole match was played by the candidate for the national team of Ukraine Pankiv. Three blue-and-yellow players played for Gent - Plastun, Bezus (two assists, replaced in the 80th minute) and Yaremchuk (replaced in the 73rd minute).
