February. Chronicle of events: the debut of the VAR system in Ukrainian football and the approval of the cities of the national team matches

The first official matches in Ukrainian football held with the use of the system were a significant event in February VAR.  

February 1st. The national futsal team of Ukraine started its performance in the elite round of selection for the 2020 World Cup in Serbia with a defeat in a match against the hosts - 2:5.

February 2st. And in the second match of the elite qualifying round of the 2020 World Cup, Oleksandr Kosenko's wards were defeated, this time by the Spaniards - 1:3. After this setback, the blue and yellow lost their chances of qualifying for the mundial.

February 4st. The Ukrainian futsal team ended the draw in the decisive stage of the World Cup draw with the French team - 2:2. This result left the Ukrainians in fourth place in the European Group B qualification group.

"It is clear that the result is unsatisfactory - said Alexander Kosenko, summing up the team's performance in the elite round. - We did not complete the task. However, the game is not as hopeless as it seems. In this regard, the matches with Spain and France turned out well. As for the match with Serbia, the team whose nerves turned out to be stronger won. "

February 6st. The first of three planned friendly matches within the training camp in Spain was held by the youth national team of Ukraine U-17, which is preparing for the matches of the elite round of selection for the final part of Euro 2020 (U-17). Alexander Petrakov's wards parted ways with the British - 0:0.

February 8st. In the second match at the Spanish training camp, the Ukrainian youth team from the U-17 national team beat their Belgian peers - 1:0.

February 10st. Alexander Petrakov's team played the last of three sparring matches in Spain again with the England national team and this time lost - 0:4.

"Thanks to the national association, everything went at a high level, - said Alexander Petrakov the results of the Spanish training camp of his team. - This applies to rivals, working conditions and weather. I love it".

12 February. In Nyon a working meeting was held UEFA Executive Committee and CONMEBOL Council. The parties signed an updated memorandum of understanding, which continues the agreement signed in 2012. The event was attended by the President of the Ukrainian Football Association, a member of the UEFA Executive Committee Andriy Pavelko. 

According to Andriy Pavelko, uniting people and whole continents with the help of football is always an effective formula, which was strengthened by a new memorandum of cooperation and mutual understanding between UEFA and CONMEBOL. "An extremely warm and friendly meeting in Nyon, an exchange of ideas and plans for the joint development of football in Europe and South America ... The development of football, the promotion of women's football, tournaments and refereeing are equally important for the two continents. and CONMEBOL. This is a great platform for creating and disseminating innovative football solutions, and Ukraine will be one of the most active participants in this process, "said the UAF President.

February 14st. The Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Association of Football supported the proposal UAF President Andriy Pavelko to determine Kharkiv, Kyiv and Lviv as the cities that will host three friendly matches of the blue-yellows before their start at Euro 2020.

Thus, the national team of Ukraine will play against Cyprus on May 26 in Kharkiv at USC Metalist, on June 2 in Kyiv at NSC Olimpiysky with Northern Ireland and on June 7 in Lviv at Arena Lviv stadium against Israel.

"These three matches will take place in the East, Center and West of Ukraine. Thus, fans from all regions will have the opportunity to charge their emotions to the main team on the eve of the decisive tournament. And in general, it is symbolic, because football lately is what unites our country and gives positive emotions to millions of fans, "said Andriy Pavelko, President of the UAF, a member of the UEFA Executive Committee.

February 17-21. The ninth All-Ukrainian tournament among women's teams took place in Chernihiv "Winter Championship 2020". Kharkiv's Zhytlobud-1 won the competition of the strongest teams of Ukrainian women's football.

February 22st. After the winter break the championship of Ukraine was renewed among the teams of the Premier League. In the match between Dynamo and Vorskla, which took place at the Valery Lobanovsky Stadium in Kyiv, the VAR system was used for the first time in Ukrainian football. Thus, Ukraine has joined the leading European countries, which use the video assistant referee system in national championships. The initiative of UAF President Andriy Pavelko, proposed about two years ago, was successfully implemented.

February 26st. Ukrainian WU-17 girls' national team preparing for the elite round of Euro 2020 selection), as part of a training camp in Kharkiv, held the first of two scheduled matches against leading Ukrainian women's soccer clubs. IN sparring with Zhitlobud-1 blue and yellow lost - 1: 2.

February 28st. Serhiy Sapronov's wards from the WU-17 team held the second control match in Kharkiv and were defeated from Zhytlobud-2 - 0: 6.
