Cyberfootball player of Ukraine Vitaliy Litvinov: “Psychology played a bad joke with our guys”

The player of the national team of Ukraine on cyber football Vitaliy Litvinov told about his experience of the first round of the first stage of selection for eEURO-2020 and preparation for the second game day.

March 16, the national team of Ukraine in cyber football in the discipline of PES spent the first game day in the selection of the 2020 European Championship. In qualifying group H, our guys played five matches. In the matches against the national teams of Italy, Wales, Montenegro, Andorra and the Faroe Islands, the Ukrainians won three, drew once and lost once.

The main player of the national team of Ukraine Vitaliy Budb_proshe Litvinov took part in the match against the team of Andorra, which, like all the others, consisted of two individual confrontations. In his match he won 4: 1. 

Vitaliy told about his impressions from the game day and assessed the chances of the Ukrainian national team to leave the group: “There were no problems with my opponent. According to the game itself, I had to win, which, in fact, happened. But there were quality issues online, so I didn't win so fast.

As for the whole tour, I can say that the situation in the world has made adjustments. For example, the Italians did not cancel the general meeting and played from their base together. We played from our homes, so the conditions were somewhat unequal. In addition, we lacked experience. The Italians are much more experienced, and, again, our online problems have intervened.

As for reaching the next stage, it is very good that everything is in our hands. You need to beat the opponent, score points - and we will leave the group. Of course, it would be easier if we won over Montenegro, which we had to beat. Unfortunately, cold blood was probably not enough. We had to win ironically, but no. This is our failure. Montenegro, of course, gave us a surprise. And the Balkans play somewhat out of the rules, they do not follow the rules. 

In the second round we have to change tactics a bit. I hope the manager will hear us. We have to defeat the Montenegrins one hundred percent. Then it remains just not to lose points in matches with weaker opponents - and the second place will be ours. 

In preparation for the second round, I focus more on psychology. We can all play, but when it came to official matches, it was psychology that played a bad joke on the guys. Serhiy Marchenko could have played much stronger in the match with the Italians. He beat them in sparring and other tournaments. And here there was a lack of experience and psychological stability. If we all played together, we could tell the guys to calm down a bit. After all, cyber football is a team game. "

It will be recalled that after the first day of qualification, the Ukrainian cyber football team in the PES discipline ranks third in the Group N standings. Our team has 10 points, one point behind Montenegro and three points behind Italy. The second game day of the first group stage is March 30.

We will add that the winners of each of the 2020 qualifying groups will receive a direct pass to the 10 European Championship. The second-place teams will take part in the second stage of selection, which will determine six more participants in eEURO-2020.

The matches of the second stage of selection will take place on May 4 and 11. The final tournament among the 16 best national teams of Europe is scheduled for July 9-10 in London.
