The UAF President discussed preparations for the resumption of competitions with the regional associations

An online workshop was held with the participation of the Ukrainian Football Association's President Andrii Pavelko, the UAF First Vice-President Oleh Protasov and the heads of regional associations. During the video conference, its participants exchanged views on key issues of resuming football competitions in Ukraine.

It will be recalled that the next stage of mitigation of quarantine introduced in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic will begin in Ukraine soon. On this day, permission to resume UPL matches also comes into force and competitions can start in regions where the relevant restrictions have been lifted.

During the meeting, Andrii Pavelko congratulated his colleagues on the return of football after quarantine and at the same time warned them against neglecting pandemic protection.  

"I am grateful to all regional associations and their leadership for a responsible attitude to compliance with quarantine requirements and active participation in supporting doctors and football veterans, who in this difficult time needed such help in the first place. I sincerely rejoice and congratulate you on the return of football to our lives. However, this is only the first victory in the fight against COVID-19. Our goal is to organize future matches with fans who will be able to enjoy their favorite game in the stadiums. This requires time and our joint efforts, as well as a responsible attitude to the organization of fights at this stage. We must remember that the pandemic is not over, and there is a serious risk of a second wave of disease. Therefore, it is necessary to listen to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and strictly follow the approved medical protocol, "said the President of the UAF.

During the meeting, the heads of regional associations shared with colleagues information on the state of affairs with COVID-19 in their regions and preparations for the resumption of competitions where possible, from 30 May. The participants of the meeting also discussed preparations for the XXIII Congress of the Ukrainian Football Association.
