Andrii Pavelko: The contract with Andrii Shevchenko will be extended until December 31, 2022

Following the results of the XXIII Congress of the Ukrainian Association of Football, which took place today in Lviv, a briefing was held, at which, in particular, UAF President Andrii Pavelko announced important news and answered questions from the media:

- I am glad to welcome everyone to Lviv, where a year ago the national team of Ukraine won a historic victory over Serbia. Today was the historic, first UAF Congress in the city of Leva. Now our football is going through hard times, but our task in this situation is to do everything possible to bring the fans back to the stadiums. The current situation in FC Karpaty confirms that the fight against the pandemic is not over yet. But I am sure that the decisions made today will contribute to the future victories of Ukrainian football. In particular, I would like to inform you that the UAF Executive Committee has just voted to extend the contract with the head coach of the national team of Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko and his staff until December 31, 2022.

- What areas of the association's work are your priorities now?

- Our goal is the development of football in Ukraine. For its implementation, it is important to preserve the unity of the football family. Important areas of our work are social projects, development of children's and youth and women's football. We pay a lot of attention to the development of the country's football infrastructure, the fight against contract matches, the introduction of the VAR system in professional football. Our main task is to support the national team.

- What is your personal position on the end of the season in the First league?

- We have already returned football to the UPL, allowed regional associations to resume competitions. Now it is very important that the first and second leagues make the appropriate decision. My personal position is that we have already done - we have instructed the UAF Referees Committee to prepare for the matches of the first and second leagues of the current season. Also at the UAF Executive Committee today, we voted to recommend the convening of the PFL Conference, which should decide on all issues related to the possible resumption of the season. It is necessary that the presidents of all clubs come together and understand each other. I can assure you that the UAF Executive Committee will immediately consider the possible resumption of the season in the first and second leagues, which will be approved by the conference.
