Champions League. UEFA decision on the warm-up of the 2019/2020 season

At a meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee, which took place today by video conference with the participation of the President of the UAF, a member of the UEFA Executive Committee Andriy Pavelko, there was the decision was made regarding the warm-up of the European Cup tournaments of the 2019/2020 season.

The stages of the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final of the UEFA Champions League 2019/2020 will take place as the only tournament in the playoffs in August in Lisbon (Portugal). All stages will consist of one match.

It remains to be seen where the remaining four return matches of the remaining 1/8 finals will take place - at the home clubs' stadiums or in Portugal.

The quarterfinals, semifinals and final will be divided between the stadiums "Estadio do Benfica" and "Jose Alvalade" (Lisbon). Dragau (Porto) and Afonso Enriquez (Guimarães) will host the remaining four 1/8 matches, if necessary.

UEFA Champions League 2019/2020 match schedule

August 7-8: 1/8 finals (cities to be confirmed).

August 12-15: Quarterfinals (Lisbon).

August 18-19: Semifinals (Lisbon).

August 23: Final (Lisbon).

All matches will start at 22.00 Kyiv time. The dates of the quarterfinals and semifinals and the final schedule of matches will be announced later.

We will add that clubs of football players of the national team of Ukraine remain among participants of the current drawing. Ruslan Malinowski's Atalanta have already reached the quarterfinals, and Alexander Zinchenko's Manchester City have to play the return match of the 1/8 finals against Real Madrid.

Upcoming UEFA Champions League final

The UEFA Champions League final of 2019/2020 was to take place at the Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, which will now host the final of the 2020/2021 season instead. The next three host cities of the final matches will also host the decisive matches a year later than originally planned.

2020 - Estadio do Benfica or Jose Alvalade, Lisbon (Portugal).

2021 - Olympic Stadium, Istanbul (Turkey).

2022 - "St. Petersburg", St. Petersburg (Russia).

2023 - Allianz Arena, Munich (Germany).

2024 - Wembley, London (England).

The main changes in the rules of club competitions-2019/2020

Teams will be allowed to register three new players on Schedule A for the remainder of the season, provided that these players are already registered and eligible to participate from the deadline for registration (February 3, 2020).

List A should consist of 25 players. Clubs will not be able to register new players.

In all matches of the 2019/2020 season, teams will be allowed to make five substitutions. In the 2020/2021 season, the number of replacements will be three.

Next season

The deadline for applications for participation in the Champions League 2020/2021 is August 3.

The UEFA Executive Committee has also approved the updated UEFA Champions League 2020/2021 calendar.

Participants of the current tournament

Half of the 1/8 stage ended, and PSG, Atletico, Leipzig and Atalanta reached the quarterfinals. The following matches remain to be played:

Juventus - Lyon (first match - 0: 1);

Manchester City - Real Madrid (2: 1);

Bayern Munich - Chelsea (3: 0);

"Barcelona" - "Napoli" (1: 1).
