UEFA Futsal Champions League 2020/2021: format and calendar of competitions
UEFA has announced the calendar, the date of the first draw and the venue for the final stage of the Futsal Champions League 2020/2021.
According to the decision of the Union of European Football Associations, the first draw of the Futsal Champions League next season will take place on September 2, and the final stage will be hosted by Minsk.
We will remind that for participation in the Champions League of a season-2020/2021 Executive Committee of Association of Futsal of Ukraine decided to delegate MFK Prodeksim (Kherson).
Calendar of the Futsal Champions League 2020/2021
Preliminary and main rounds draw: September 2 (14.15, CET), Nyon.
Preliminary round: October 13-18.
Main round: November 22-29.
Elite round draw: December 4, Nyon.
Elite round: February 16-21, 2021.
Final stage draw: date and time to be announced later, Minsk.
Final stage: April 22/23 and 24/25, 2021, Minsk ("Arena Minsk").
Format Futsal Champions League 2020/2021
Preliminary round (October 13-18)
In this round, the teams with the lowest rating in the UEFA odds table will play (the number of teams depends on the total number of participants).
The teams will be divided into groups of four and possibly three teams. Sowing will be used in the draw, and the pre-determined hosts of the mini-tournaments will be divided into groups separately. The winners of the groups and, perhaps, the best of the second-place teams will advance to the main round.
Main Round (November 22-29)
Path A
On the way A will play the current owner of the trophy, the next 11 teams in the ranking and the teams that occupy places in it from the 16th to the 19th.
As in the previous draw, teams will receive one of the four seeding numbers, and the four hosts of the mini-tournaments will be divided into groups separately, but taking into account the seeding numbers. There is no division by country, other restrictions will be announced before the draw.
The top three teams from each group will advance to the elite round.
Path B
On the way B will play the teams in the ranking of places from 12th to 15th and from 20th to 22nd (or from 20th to 23rd - depending on the number of participants), as well as the winners of the previous round .
As in the previous draw, teams will receive one of the four seeding numbers, and the four hosts of the mini-tournaments will be divided into groups separately, but taking into account the seeding numbers. Possible restrictions will be announced before the draw.
The winners of four groups will advance to the elite round.
Elite round (February 16-21, 2021)
16 clubs will be divided into four groups. The draw will take place on December 4, sowing will be confirmed before the draw.
Four group winners will receive tickets to the final tournament.
The final stage
The final stage will be hosted by Arena Minsk. The matches will take place on April 22nd and 24th or on April 23rd and 25th, 2021.
