UEFA Nations League. Ukraine held its first training session in Kharkiv
Meeting after a long separation is always touching. For almost a year, the national team did not come together due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the collections with special exaltation arrived at their traditional meeting place in Kharkov - the hotel complex Superior Golf & Spa Resort.
Congratulations to the birthday boy in the distance
At the entrance, the players of the national team were greeted by a hospitable host - the owner of the hotel Yuri Sapronov, who also has a birthday today. Coaches and players knew about it, so Mr. Yuriy heard congratulatory greetings right on the doorstep of his institution. In addition, social distance and a clear attitude to work left sincere congratulations at a distance. During the stay at the hotel, the team strictly adheres to all quarantine requirements: any contact with the outside world is prohibited.

Fitness for the top five
The first working evening at the meeting of the main team of the country, as expected, had a specific task. This is an important initial step in bringing performers to the same denominator of functional readiness. Players who did not take part in yesterday's match for the Super Cup of Ukraine or came on as a substitute in the second half (Yevhen Konoplyanka, Viktor Kovalenko, Serhiy Bolbat, Viktor Tsygankov) and Oleksandr Zinchenko started working. This group held fitness classes in the hotel’s gym under the guidance of fitness trainer Andrea Azalina. Players performed the required set of exercises to activate the muscles. And immediately after that, all 19 players present at the meeting went to the "Sunny".

Five newcomers
Before the start of training, the players were addressed by the head coach of the national team of Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko, who described the direction of today's work and told the guys what awaits them in the coming days. Immediately after that, the physical training coach Ivan Bashtovy conducted a traditional warm-up before the lesson. For the five newcomers of the blue-yellows, the access to the well-prepared lawn of the Kharkiv stadium was significant. Georgy Bushchan, Vladislav Supryaga, Oleksandr Tymchyk, Oleksandr Syrota and Valery Bondar took part in the national team training for the first time. The initial work for the newcomers was tactical, because they should get acquainted and learn the principles of the game of the main team of the country.

For the players involved in yesterday's match, the training was conducted in a playful tone and had a restorative character. At the same time, Andrea Azalin worked more intensively with a group that had previously performed fitness exercises to balance the game load.
Competition creates motivation
At the end of the lesson, some of the players, who were traditionally joined by Andriy Shevchenko, played tennis.

Charged with a positive mood after a long separation, coaches and players begin painstaking work, which will become more intense every day. Tomorrow Ruslan Malinovsky will join the team of collections, and the number of performers will increase every day, and the competition for a place in the application will increase. However, increased motivation is a common thing for the national team, so the guys are ready for new challenges.
