The 2020/2021 European Cup season begins for Ukraine today: Dynamo and Kolos will recognize rivals
Today, a new European Cup season for Ukraine starts with the draw of the third qualifying round of the Champions League (starting at 13.00) and the second qualifying stage of the Europa League (14.00).
Dynamo recognizes its first opponent in the Champions League qualifiers. Among the options are the Austrian Rapid, the Greek PAOK and the Dutch AZ. Tomorrow, September 1, the draw for the Champions League play-off round will take place, where the pair with the participation of Dynamo will also appear.
Therefore, Kyiv will need to overcome the resistance of two rivals to get to the main grid. In case of failure at any stage, our representative will automatically move to the group round of the Europa League.
It will be recalled that Shakhtar, as the winner of the Premier League, has a direct ticket to the group stage of the Champions League.
Ukraine will be represented by three clubs in the Europa League. The winner of the Ukrainian Cup should have reached the group stage immediately, but the success of Dynamo gave such a right to the bronze medalist of the Premier League - Zorya Luhansk.
In turn, the winner of the UPL playoffs (Kolos) will start in the second qualifying round, and the fourth UPL team (Desna) will start in the third. Thus, our delegates will need to pass three and two opponents, respectively, to get to the main grid of the Champions League.
Kolos will learn the name of its first opponent today, August 31, and Desna will learn tomorrow.
