Vitalii Odehov: Unfortunately, matches with Poland will not take place in November

The head coach of the youth futsal team of Ukraine U-19 Vitalii Odehov told about the teamwork at the training camp.

From 25 to 29 October blue-and-yellows are gathering in Brovary. Team coach Vitalii Odehov in an interview Futsal Association of Ukraine press service told about the work of the team, personnel issues and future plans.

— Two days of work in Brovary have passed. Tell us, what is going on at training camp.

- The first two days passed in normal working mode. The guys come to the national team in a good mood and with positive emotions. We work twice a day - in the morning and in the evening. We have invited a number of debutants to this gathering. The newcomers make a very positive impression both on and off the floor. If we talk about tactical moments, the team worked to improve the system of the game "3 in 1", practiced actions during positional attacks, as well as using "pillars". During the final part of the training camp we will work on the implementation of set-pieces. In addition, the youth team will play a friendly match against Servit, a team that represents the Higher league of Kyiv championship. 

— Were there any changes in the selection that arrived for the training camp?

- I state with sorrow that they really happened. For objective reasons, Oleksandr Dychuk and Maksym Malynovskyi did not come. For my part, I can only wish the boys good health. Unfortunately, today the whole world is forced to get used to new realities. However, we cannot oppose this. I will note that another newcomer was called up to the training camp - Oleksandr Kruk from Rivnestandart-CYSS-4.

— You have already mentioned that many new names have appeared. Do you have a list of potential candidates for the future?

- Of course, there is such a list. First of all, it is worth noting the players from Sokil Khmelnytskyi, who play in the Extra League. However, the situation with the coronavirus has already prevented us from counting on them. In particular, we planned to call up Vladyslav Perveyev.

— Will the friendly matches with Polish peers scheduled for November take place?

- Unfortunately, the matches with Poland will not take place. We are already thinking about where to hold a gathering instead of these matches and in what format to do it. If we do not find a team for friendly - the training will take place in Ukraine, and we will hold matches with amateur or professional teams.

— Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the youth team was forced to move to friendly matches with Ukrainian teams instead of international meetings. To what extent can they be considered a worthy replacement?

- In my opinion, the replacement is certainly not equivalent. Games with those who represent another country are always additional interest, motivation and responsibility. Such events can be called more emotional. International matches are a chance to meet and compete to a different style of futsal, to be emotionally prepared for a situation where fans support opponents. These are the components we are sorely lacking today. However, we are not upset. We will try to get out of this situation with dignity.
