Ruslan Rotan's charges decided the fate of the match with Northern Ireland in the second half.

The last match in the Euro-2021 (U-21) qualifying group was a match of prestige for the Ukrainian youth, as it did not decide anything from the tournament point of view. Positive tests for coronavirus and the challenge of some players to the main team of the country forced Ruslan Rotan to look for an alternative. So it turned out that the experimental team came to the game with Northern Ireland.

The snow, which began to fall in Kyiv and the region in the afternoon, clearly confused the plans of both mentors. Even before the starting whistle, he covered the lawn at the Kolos Stadium, which did not allow the players to combine with dignity - for the most part, it all came down to long passes and further struggle. But even under such conditions, the blue-and-yellows could take the lead, but the blows of Kukharevich and Snurnitsyn were not successful. The Northern Irish, for their part, also tried to seek happiness at someone else's goal, and sometimes it was hot in the Ukrainians' penalty area. The most dangerous shot was Bansala McNulty in the 42nd minute, but Trubin deflected the ball and managed to finish.

The second 45 minutes did not make significant changes to the game at first, except that the fight became much tougher. However, closer to the middle of the half, the Ukrainians increased their pace - and one of the standards brought them success. In the 68th minute Vantukh took a corner, and Baboglo opened the scoring in a header. Less than two minutes later, the blue and yellows increased their advantage. Isayenko used Stetskov's flank pass - 2: 0. And Ruslan Rotan's wards did not stop there. In the 74th minute Kukharevych took advantage of a mistake by the defense and the goalkeeper and hit an empty net from the middle distance.

That's how, on a major note, the youth national team of Ukraine completed its journey in the qualifying tournament for Euro-2021 (U-21).
