UEFA Youth League: new format and tournament calendar for the 2020/2021 season approved

The next draw of the UEFA Youth League will take place in the playoffs. The draw of the tournament will take place on January 27, 2021, the first matches - on March 2.

The UEFA Executive Committee, which includes UAF President Andriy Pavelko, approved the UEFA Youth League 2020/2021 calendar, the format of which was changed due to the reluctance of participants to travel in the current situation and difficulties in organizing the matches of the tournament.

This draw will consist exclusively of single-match relegations, which will begin with the 1/32 final. The tournament will start on March 2, 2021, the first draw will take place on January 27. As before, the competition will end with the final stage, which will be hosted by the Kolovre Stadium in Nyon from May 17 to 20.

Draw and match dates of the UEFA Youth League

Draw of the 1/32 finals: January 27, 2021 (13.00).

1/32 finals: March 2-3, 2021.

Draw of the 1/16 finals: March 12, 2021 (10.00).

The draw for the 1/8 finals and the following stages: March 12, 2021 (17.00).

1/16 finals: April 6-7, 2021.

1/8 finals: April 20-21, 2021.

1/4 finals: May 4-5, 2021.

1/2 final (Kolovre Stadium, Nyon): May 17, 2021.

Final (Kolovre Stadium, Nyon): May 20, 2021.

As always, 32 clubs that took part in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League will follow the UEFA Champions League. The winners of the national youth championships of the 32 best associations in the UEFA rankings, who did not get into the Champions League Path, will follow the path of the national champions. In the stages of the 1nd and 32/1 finals, the teams will follow two different paths, which will then unite in the 16/1 finals.

Pairs of the 1/32 and 1/16 finals will be formed by blind draw. The UEFA administration can form several groups on a geographical basis, so that teams do not have to travel long distances. As for the Champions League Path, the UEFA administration guarantees that clubs from the same association do not get to the same pair during the draw.

Representatives of Ukraine will take part in the tournament. Shakhtar (Donetsk) and Dynamo Kyiv will follow the path of the Champions League.
