WU-17: Euro-2021 qualifying tournament with the participation of the girls' national team of Ukraine has been canceled

UEFA Executive Committee, with UAF President Andrii Pavelko as it's member, has decided to cancel holding the qualifying round and final tournament of the European Championship 2021, which was to take place in the Faroe Islands, among the girls' national teams WU.

Qualifying round of the European Championship-2021 (WU-17) had to pass in February 2021, and the selection format itself was previously adjusted. According to the results of the draw, the Ukrainians got into group 7, where they are rivals wards of Sergei Sapronov became the teams of France, Iceland and Estonia. The tournament was to take place in Estonia.

Now, in accordance with previous decisions and on the basis of constant monitoring of the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic, the UEFA Executive Committee, in consultation with all 55 national associations, decided to cancel the competition. According to UEFA, holding youth and girls' tournaments in the first months of 2021 is unrealistic given the current epidemiological situation in many parts of Europe. In particular, given the need for international travel of minors by commercial flights. In many countries, youth and girls' activities are still suspended, and all national associations have agreed that if the competition resumes too early, it will be difficult for participants to gain and maintain their form of play.

Euro 2020 (WU-17) was also abolished

It should be reminded, that UEFA also canceled elite round, where the girls' national team of Ukraine WU-17 was to perform, and the final Euro tournament for girls under 17 in 2020. If the World Cup in this age group is confirmed, the three European teams with the highest odds (England, Germany and Spain) will play.
