Ukrainian U-21 Championship: results of the first part of the 2020/2021 season

The teams of the youth championship of Ukraine went on a winter break without playing two matches. During difficult quarantine times, when sometimes it was at the expense of reservists that it was necessary to complete the main squads for the Premier League games, cutting the championship calendar. U-21, it's very good.

In the past month last review, only one team showed a 19% result - Dynamo. Yuri Moroz's wards held the lead, despite the illness of their coach. And the last four meetings won with a total score of 3: XNUMX.

The same 12 points, but in five matches, were scored by Shakhtar's reservists. In the 11th round he put them on the shoulders of "Dnipro-1" - 3: 2. Despite a penalty kick that put the Pitmen ahead in the 21st minute, Oleksandr Poklonsky's team showed not only character but also skill and scored three goals. The most impressive goal was scored by Konstantin Domaratsky - after a slalom raid from the center of the field to someone else's goal. Shakhtar scored their second goal in stoppage time.

Despite this, Fernando Valente's team climbed to the second place in the standings and moved "Alexandria", which scored only seven points in four matches. And now Oleksandr Lomko's wards are within reach for the Rukh attack. The debutant of the Ukrainian U-21 championship, which was headed by Hryhoriy Baranets during the season, scored 10 points in the last four rounds, winning three matches with a total score of 7: 2.

Other debutants, Minai and Ingulets, show much worse results. The same company should include "Olympic", which missed a season and a half due to disqualification. In the last month, they scored only one point each. Desna earned two.

Zorya also performed uncertainly (three points) and fell from the fourth step to the ninth place in the standings. Even Lviv, which had been fourth since the end, was higher. But in the last four rounds Lviv scored nine points - more than in the previous nine matches (eight).

It is worth noting the decrease in the average age of teams - compared to the same period last season. Shakhtar (18,8 vs. 19,4), Dynamo (19,5 / 20,2), Zorya (19,8 / 20,7), Kolos (19,1) became younger. / 20,3), Vorskla (19,4 / 20,1), Desna (20,1 / 21) and Alexandria (20,4 / 21,1).

Against this background, newcomers look interesting. Rukh has the oldest team in the U-21 championship (21,4 years). Among the leaders was "Minai" (20,4). But "Ingulets" and "Olympic", on the contrary, are distinguished by the youngest teams - 18,7 and 18,6 years, respectively. But this should not be surprising, because these two teams play almost the same team in parallel in the U-21 and U-19 championships. However, with varying degrees of success: Ingulets U-19 - 18 points, Olympic U-19 - 3.
