Ukrainian U-19 Championship: results of the first part of the 2020/2021 season

In the month since the last inspection Championship of Ukraine U-19, only six teams іout of 14 scored more than 50% points. And now they are among the top seven in the standings. And five teams made a rise: "Shakhtar" (was the fifth) - on the second place, "Movement" (10th) - on the third, "Vorskla" (the ninth) - on the fourth, "Dawn" ( eighth) - on the fifth, "Lviv" (11th) - on the seventh.

The Pitmen won five matches out of five with a total score of 15: 0, after which they came close to the leader - Dynamo. Kyiv has scored only nine points in the last month, but in three matches. After all, Igor Kostyuk's team managed to play several matches of the finish program in advance and finished the autumn part of the season earlier than others.

It will be recalled that Shakhtar won the first round in a personal meeting (1: 0), but Oscar Ratulutra's wards assumed optional losses in other games. And so at least until mid-February (and the resumption of the U-19 championship is scheduled for February 13) to lead the standings will be "Dynamo".

Two Lviv teams performed very well. Both Lviv and Rukh scored 10 points out of 12 possible. Moreover, the Rukhs failed in the match with the outsider - "Olympic" (0: 0), and "citizens" - with "Ingulets" (1: 1). Vorskla has nine points out of 12 (defeat by Dynamo - 0: 2), Zora has seven out of nine (a draw with Minai).

After the resumption of the championship, the fight for third place in the table can be very hot. And Rukh as a debutant should not be looked down upon. Vitaly Ponomarev's team is staffed mainly by students of the Carpathian school, so its high result is not a sensation in the full sense of the word. As a beginner, the performance is, of course, very successful, but, given the human potential, it is also understandable.

But the other debutant, Ingults, could not withstand the high pace. The biggest losers of the last month were: "Ingulets" (he was second) - eighth place, "Kolos" (third) - sixth, "Alexandria" (fourth) - 11th and "Mariupol" (seventh) - 10th. Moreover, the Alexandrians scored only one point in five matches, the players of Ingulets - two in four, Dnipro-1 - three in four, and Mariupol - four in five. "Olympic" (two points), "Desna" and "Minai" (one each) also played very uncertainly, but they did not claim anything serious.

This season in the Ukrainian U-19 championship is the ninth. Two of the previous eight failed due to force majeure: in 2014 - in connection with the anti-terrorist operation, in 2020 - in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. In those championships, the location in the standings was recorded at the end of the competition.

During this time, it became clear that the undisputed leader of Ukraine in the U-19 age category is Dynamo. Kyiv won the championship six times out of eight (2013, 2016-2020), once they were second (2015). Shakhtar has one championship (2015), four second places (2014, 2018-2020) and three third places (2013, 2016, 2017).

Four times the top three winners were "Carpathians" (2014, 2015, 2018, 2019 - all times third place). Nobody managed to do it more, at least for the second time.
