Futsal Euro 2022: Ukraine-Denmark group stage match canceled

In the evening of January 23, AFU received a letter from UEFA informing that the match of the group stage of the Euro-2022 selection between the national men's futsal teams of Ukraine and Denmark, which was to take place on January 27 in Zaporizhia, was canceled, reports the Futsal Association of Ukraine.

The reason for this was the expansion of the list of restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic in Denmark. Due to this, the country's authorities did not allow their national team to leave for Ukraine.

For its part, the Ukrainian side has taken all possible measures over the past 24 hours to fight for points in the sports field and to play a match with the Danish national team. In addition, consultations with UEFA and the Danish Football Association have been held several times.

The Futsal Association of Ukraine proposed a version of the mirror changes in the matches between the national teams of Ukraine and Denmark, which provided that the match № 5 group stage of Euro-2022 Denmark - Ukraine will be played on January 27, and the match № 1 Ukraine - Denmark will take place on April 7. However, neither the Danish Football Union nor the country's authorities have provided AFU with guarantees regarding the possibility of the Ukrainian national team entering Denmark.

In connection with the above, the disciplinary bodies of UEFA will consider the case against the Danish Football Union and make a decision in the prescribed manner.

As previously planned, the national team of Ukraine will start the training camp on January 24 in Zaporizhia and will prepare for the match of the group stage of the Euro-2022 selection against the national team of Albania, which will take place in Tirana on January 31.
