Serhiy Nagornyak: "During the business trip there was not only a review of candidates for the national team, but also a search for new performers"

The head coach of the youth national team of Ukraine U-17 Serhiy Nagornyak saw several new players for his team.

The other day the coaches of the youth national teams of Ukraine returned from Turkey with their own eyes observed the work of candidates to their teams. Serhiy Nagornyak, the coach of the U-17 national team, shared his impressions of the trip with the official UAF website.

- Serhiy Mykolayovych, what was the main thing for you on this business trip?

- To review the candidates for the national team, because the last time we met with the guys was a year ago. It was interesting to see how footballers train against the background of fatigue. And in general, I missed the guys. I received comprehensive information about potential candidates for the national team. In this regard, I would like to thank the leadership of the UAF for the opportunity to observe with their own eyes the work of the wards.

- How many matches did you watch for you?

- About 10. These were matches of U-19 teams of Dynamo, Shakhtar, Rukh, youth teams, where there are already boys born in 2004.

- What can be concluded from this work?

- It was not just a review, but also a search for new artists. I will not say that there were many such players, but some got on the note. And the players who were called up to the national team earlier correspond to the level I expected from them. I managed to communicate with the guys. Not as much as we would like, but the latest news was exchanged.

- What can you say about the immediate plans of your team?

- Because the March matches qualification round of Euro-2021 among U-17 teams was canceled, the next collection, if nothing happens, is scheduled for May.
