Ukrainian U-19 Championship: Dynamo claims seventh gold in ninth tournament

Today, on February 12, the Ukrainian championship is resumed with a match between Minai and Lviv at Uzhhorod's Avangard U-19 seasons-2020/2021.

Three meetings are scheduled for February 13: Zorya-Desna (Zaporizhzhya), Kolos-Shakhtar (Shchaslyve) and Dynamo-Olympic (Koncha-Zaspa). On February 14 - three more: "Rukh" - "Vorskla" (Lviv), "Dnipro-1" - "Ingulets" (Dnipro) and "Mariupol" - "Alexandria" (Mariupol).

There are 13 rounds of the second round left until the end of the championship. The dates of three more matches not played in the fall will be determined later: Vorskla - Rukh (Round 1), Olimpik - Desna (Round 7), Olimpik - Zorya (Round 10).

А Dynamo U-2 and Shakhtar U-3 will play their first matches in the UEFA Youth League on March 19 and 19. The 2020/2021 season due to quarantine restrictions had to be carried out under a completely new scheme. Instead of group tournaments for teams whose clubs have reached the adult Champions League, all participants will play according to the cup scheme - relegation. It will be recalled that during the draw on January 27, the draw decided to create the following pairs: Shakhtar - Porto (Portugal) and Dynamo - Barcelona (Spain). Ukrainian teams will play at home, the duel consists of only one match.

In case of victory, our clubs will know their rivals in the 1/16 finals on March 12. And the matches of the next round will take place on April 6-7.

Until the meetings with "Porto" and "Barcelona", Dynamo and Pitmen have to play three games in the Ukrainian championship. Dynamo's opponents are Olimpik (February 13), Desna (February 21), and Lviv (February 28). Shakhtar's opponents are Kolos (February 13), Rukh (February 21), Zorya (February 28).

... This season in the Ukrainian U-19 championship is the ninth. Two of the previous eight failed due to force majeure: in 2014 - in connection with the anti-terrorist operation, in 2020 - in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. In those championships, the location in the standings was recorded at the end of the competition.

During this time, it became clear that the undisputed leader of Ukraine in the U-19 age category is Dynamo. Kyiv won the championship six times out of eight (2013, 2016-2020), once they were second (2015). Shakhtar has one championship (2015), four second places (2014, 2018-2020) and three third places (2013, 2016, 2017).

Four times the top three winners were "Carpathians" (2014, 2015, 2018, 2019 - invariably third place), no one else managed to do it at least a second time.
