Europa League. Dynamo failed to maintain an advantage over Brugge at home

In the home match of the 1/16 finals of the Europa League, Kyiv's Dynamo drew with Belgium's Brugge.

Both teams took third place in their Champions League quartets and continued their European Cup journey in the Europa League. The first match of the 1/16 finals was to take place in frosty Kyiv, and due to difficult weather conditions it was postponed to 17.00. Note that the match took place in the presence of spectators - they were recently allowed to return to the stadiums after the quarantine restrictions were eased.

On Saturday as part of the Ukrainian championship Dynamo beat Olympic. The author of the double in that meeting Besedin came out in the starting lineup again, and also returned to the field after Zabarny's injury. However, there were still enough football players in the hospital in Kyiv.

Brugge also faced staffing problems, mainly due to an outbreak of coronavirus at the club. Several players of the main squad could not take part in today's match for various reasons (in particular, Ukrainian Eduard Sobol missed the match due to disqualification), as well as head coach Philippe Clement.

The first half was not rich at times. At the beginning of the match, Mata scored inaccurately from the corner of the penalty area. Over time, Dynamo took the initiative. In the Kyiv team, Buyalsky was the sharpest, scoring twice above the goal after Kendzora's flank innings.

At the beginning of the second half, the Belgians struck several shots towards Bushchan's goal, but gradually Dynamo regained the ball, and in the 62nd minute opened the scoring. During a wide attack, Mykolenko extended the ball to the left flank and passed it to Buyalsky, who hit the far corner of the opponent's goal with a great shot from medium distance.

However, "Brugge" recovered fairly quickly - Mechele scored with a header after a corner. Later, again after a corner, the Belgians had another chance, but Dost scored higher. The spectators did not see more goal moments, so the teams were satisfied with a draw.
